Avale Story

Since 2015, one out of every ten boys and one in four girls become victims of sexual predators before they get to 18 years. I’m afraid that’s not right before the law and the sight of men, but people still commit this offense against these kids. Child sexual abuse is a criminal offense under various sections of chapter 21 of Nigeria’s penal code.

While the right age for consent is 18, a lot of these kids are preyed upon before that age by close family members and relatives who they and their family have trusted to cause them no harm. Parents need to be more careful with who they live their kids with or who they put in charge of their kids.

Sexual abuse takes many forms, such as rape, sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, attempted rape, as well as any form of unwanted sexual contact without consent, which may include threats, bribes, humiliation, manipulation, and violence.

This project aims to create awareness among the children living in Magodo, Surulere and Ebute-Metta area of Lagos state, providing them with necessary information on what sexual abuse is, who sexual abusers are, consequences of sexual abuse, result of sexual abuse in the life of a child, how to prevent sexual abuse, where to get help if you’re abused and the psychological assistance they need to tackle the long term and short term effect of abuse.

In the long run, this project aims to prevent sexual abuse from occurring. It will also help prevent unwanted pregnancies in teenagers and promote the reduction of teenage pregnancy resulting from sexual abuse. Children reached will be able to know and identify situations that place them at risk and enable them to detect any form of abuse in their friends and neighbors.

Children will also get knowledge about where to report sexual abuse and violence cases and get help when the deed is done. This project will also create awareness on the spread of sexually transmitted diseases in kids through sexual abuse and reduce the transmission of such diseases among kids, erasing a permanent psychological scar from their lives.

To commence this project, the Put an end to child sexual abuse foundation need the sum of $2000 to create the necessary awareness and purchase the essential equipment required for this project. Kindly contribute to putting an end to sexual violence and abuse against your kids and the unborn generation.
